Almost walking

I won’t say I’m walking until it’s my preferred means of getting around, but I’m close. Earlier, I walked from the hallway to the living room to the dining room.

have you seen this? have you heard about this? the containers that hold diaper wipes are fascinating - pull out one wipe and bamm! there's another. Pull that one, and another appears. I got through 20 wipes before the authorities stopped me. A few hours later, I was stopped after pulling out ~7 wipes.

I've mastered the ways to show how happy I am, but I'm learning all kinds of responses to communicate my displeasure - there's the shriek, the scream, the whine, the ole grimace/turn red/then cry. hope to show you these soon!

updated: in response to Dorian's comment - thanks for the idea. I already know that I can pull down the entire roll of toilet paper but I hadn't thought about taking it into other rooms. Unfortunately, the biggest challenge is that bathroom door is always closed.

Forgot to mention a few other new things...

Been watching a little bit of the Baby Einstein DVDs. I really don't see what the hype is about.

Tonight, had a nice battle with dad at dinner. He grilled some salmon and made mac-n-cheese. Unfortunately for him, I've learned to spit out food, and I practiced this technique for the entire meal. For good measure, I even spat out some chicken chunks. For dessert, I reached up to the table to grab a cheerio but I accidentally pulled the table cloth off - that was sweet and I'll probably do it again tomorrow.

arrived this week. Two more teeth coming very soon.

Trip to Orange County

Hi all,

Just got back from a little vacation in Orange County. It as fun to see Grandma and Grandpa D.

Be sure to check the photos for highlights of my trip including;

o Spending time with Ethan and Colby, Aunt Mary, Aunt Paula, Uncle Brian, & Uncle Jeff.
o Meeting Isabelle Matloff. Steve and daddy took us to lunch then the park. She’s very smart, advanced, and strong for an 11-month old.
o Eating snow on the mountain for the first time. Yummo!
o Playing in the sprinklers (twice)
o Playing the organ and dancing to the beat
o Visiting USC. Didn’t get to visit Heritage Hall b/c of construction, but had a cool time cruising around campus and The Row
o Making a cameo at Colin Jacobs’ birthday party. I cannot wait until I can run around and play with race cars, and
o Climbing the stairs, which was both an unapproved and (initially)unsupervised act.

today, I took control and added a new twist to peek-a-boo - I stood in the dining room and peeked around the corner.

Walking … I wouldn’t say I’m walking but I can stand for several minutes w/out assistance and if I’m feeling spicy, I’ll take a few steps on my own (11 steps is my record.)

My newest thing is drinking from real glasses – sure, I spill a little but it’s all in good fun. I’m very glad that I can now eat more things. I simply love sampling new foods and yelling when I want try someone else’s; I’m lucky that mommy and daddy are good sharers. Normally, they try to feed me fruits and vegetables before giving me the good stuff (meat, cheese, and bread). Now, it’s game over b/c daddy has a tell, and if he’s already made good food or even thinking about it, I can cry knowing that he’ll cave in and give me the yummo food. Yeah, I’m powerful like that.

In other hot and exciting news, I took a ridiculously silly picture on Friday at Walgreens, and I’m pleased to report that it will be in my first passport (which should arrive in 8-10 weeks)
